A part of my journey is via train. What to do?

It is becoming increasingly common for airlines to combine a train journey with a flight. This allows for even more connections and faster travel options across the world.

Depending on the airline you have selected, different rail providers may be involved, each with its own check-in procedures. We recommend following the instructions provided on the airline's website by retrieving your booking using your reservation number. There you will find information about the steps required to obtain your train tickets. Always follow these instructions carefully, as online check-in for the train or collecting your train tickets at the railway station may be mandatory.

Failure to do so may result in a fine or even denial of boarding on your connecting flight or train.

Below you will find information about several rail providers. Please note that this information is provided for guidance only. Always follow the instructions provided by the airline.

Rail connection operated through AccesRail

Train journeys offered through AccesRail are displayed under flight number 9B. In this case, you must always check in online via this page. Use the reservation number from your ticket confirmation email and enter it in the “Booking Reference” field together with your name(s). If this does not work, try entering the name of another passenger included in the booking. Then follow the steps to download your train tickets.

Rail connection operated through Deutsche Bahn

Deutsche Bahn train services (to and from Germany) are often displayed under flight number W2 or under Lufthansa flight numbers. Please follow the instructions on the airline website on how to proceed.

Rail connection operated through Eurostar

For Eurostar services, you can usually check in through the airline’s website and will receive a train ticket with an assigned seat number.

Rail connection operated through TGV

For TGV services, you must collect your train tickets at the railway station from the airline or railway service desk. Ticket collection is often possible from 60 minutes up to 30 minutes before the train’s departure.
